Gentle Nudge........

I received this card from Kat yesterday along with a note asking me to update my blog. Thanks for the gentle nudge Kat!
Been harder for me to keep up with the blog this summer. Lots to do, but also with hubby working day shift there is a line to use the computer. Thank goodness he will be going back to second shift this coming Monday. I'll miss him....but it does make it easier for me to stay in a routine. It will help with my weight loss efforts also!

Pat Catan's had a 1.00 stamp sale again.....look at all the goodies I bought! I've been on a shopping binge lately. Good thing I have a long 4 day weekend so I'll have the time to use some of the stuff I've been acquiring.
Sarah and I went shopping last night as she needed a pair of 1 inch heel white shoes to wear for a modeling gig she is doing. The event is for charity. They are giving the models 100.00 gift card for a spa that is also sponsoring the event.
I'm going to be cooking today. I have a ton of tomatoes from the garden so I'm making chili. I know its warm outside for chili but we have the ac on and chili made with fresh tomatoes is sooooooo good! I also have a recipe for Lemon Blueberry muffins that I have be yearning to try. I'll let you know how they turn out and post the recipe.
Okay I'm burning daylight....need to get busy on some stuff I had lined up to do on my day off.

Midas Touch

Maybe all that glitters is really gold? I wanted to start making Christmas tags...yes I know it's August but I'm trying to stay on top of things this year. All y shopping is finished for the gifts I have to send out of town. Time to focus on how I'm going to wrap presents this season. I decided on Red, Gold, White, Olive, and Caramel. Love those colors together! I was at my fav paper store Hollo's over the weekend and found this great gold cardstock. It's heavy weight and white on one side. Perfect for making tags as I used the stamp shown (by Anita stamps) to add the saying to the back of the tag in red ink. Stamp for front is by SU Yuletide Montage. Yes I know Connie you would love to have this stamp set but I'm not ready to part with it yet. Maybe next year.....when I'm ready I'll be gifting it to you. Top Note die used for the tag and Label 3 Nestibilites used for the Santa. Hanger is gold wire threaded with a red star button. Gold ribbon added more to the "Midas Touch" I was going for. Santa colored with Real Red, Old Olive and Creamy Caramel ink with aqua painter.
I'd like to say goodbye to Mr Hollo. Found out this weekend that he passed away. I will miss the old gentleman. He started the store back in the 70's. At that time it was mostly a store for teachers to get supplies for their classrooms. I do have pictures of him that were taken back when friends were visiting with me. I'm going to look those up and will be posting them over the weekend.
Thanks for all the wonder paper Mr. Hollo! Your store is a wonderful place to visit. People from all over the country have stopped to visit the store. I'll always remember the conversations we would have about Brunswick and how you started up the store. Rest in Peace....you will be missed.

CORN

Remember the corn patch I showed last month that got blown over in a storm? Well the corn survived to be eaten and enjoyed by hubby. I tried a bit of it and it is good, but I'm not a big fan of corn.
Going to the doctor this afternoon. I need to get a check up on the blood pressure. Hoping that I can get the meds lowered. My doctor did tell me at the last visit that he thinks I'll be able to come off them completely once I reach my goal weight. Here is hoping the scale is kind to me today. I have noticed that the scale at the doctor's office is a bit higher than the reading I get from Weight Watcher's weigh in. I guess every scale is different.
Bad thing about today is my appointment is at 1:45 so I'll have to leave work at 1:15 to get there on time, then I'll have to come back to work after it is over. Wish I could have got a later appt. then I could have gone home after it was over. Looking forward to Friday as I have the day off. We will be busy around the house. The upstairs bathroom is being destroyed. Instead of removing the wall paper Skip decided to tear out the dry wall and replace it. Last night I had to take my first shower in the basement where he built a temporary shower where the deep sink use to be. I'll have to take a picture and show you. It's really a challenge just to get clean now!

BLAST IT ALL.....

Blogger isn't allowing me to upload any new pictures this morning. Sorry....I'll have to try again later when I come home from work.

I went to bed last night super early. 9 pm! I never do that. Was a long weekend and was just tired I guess. On the flip side of that I got up at 4:30. Did a morning workout, and had breakfast so I'm ready to go to work. Short work week as we have Friday off. Part of those unpaid days we are being forced to take every other Friday now till October.

Skip has the next two weeks off on vacation. He is working on re-modeling the upstairs bathroom. What an ordeal!!!! Be glad when that job is done. Why is it when you work on any room in the house the rest of the house is affected too? What a mess!!!!

I Rode My Bicycle Pass Your Window Last Night

Well not really, but I did ride my bike to the Post Office early yesterday morning to mail off somebody birthday box....you know who you are.
This card was really inspired by my friend Kat. She told me that she was riding her bike again (on a ten mile trek) to help inspire her hubby to ride again. So Kat this card is for you. It's in the mail and on the way.
The technique is from the latest Technique Junkie Newsletter. Pretty easy to do. You need stripped designer paper cut into strips and glued down on cardstock. Only think I don't like about it is I get dizzy looking at the zig-zags it creates. LOL
Last weeks weigh in was a bust. I didn't lose anything, but on the other hand I didn't gain either. So that's good news. I've stepped up my daily workout routine so I'm hoping that will help get that scale moving down again.
