Now This What I Call Balanced

I finally made a card that I'm happy with for the stampers challenge I'm participating in. You may recall I was making cards a few weeks ago using Wise Cracks stamp set by SU!. I was having trouble deciding just what I wanted to use for the challenge. I thought you may want to know what inspired me.....First I was emptying all the trash cans in the house, and of course hubby's can that he keeps by his desk was overflowing with Hershey kisses candy wrappers. I saw all those pretty Easter color wrappers then I spied the bag, or should I say bags as there was more than one empty one. Did I tell you just how much he loves Hershey Kisses? Anyway I took the bags to the stamping studio, then I eyed another SU stamp set So Green. Of course Wise Cracks has been sitting on my desks for weeks now and ta-ta....I had my card idea. I used a Sizzix die to cut the flowers. Then used 1/2 circle punch that was sponged and popped over the flower. Image was colored with aqua painter using Regal Rose ink. Used shimmer paint to highlight the tops of the chocolates the lady is holding in each hand. I used stamps from So Green to stamp the back of the card.

As I'm typing this and looking out the window....Lots of snow coming down. I can't believe we are still getting snow. Oh well I'm living in Ohio and I've seen it snow here in mid April so I shouldn't be that surprised, but I really want some warmer weather. Its been a very long winter!!!!!!

Chapel Card

Still struggling to get over this cold, but I did get into the stamping studio yesterday. Really wishing for a studio on one of the upper floors. Then it wouldn't be so cold in the winter while I'm trying to stamp.

The church stamp is by Stampadilites. My friend Lisa put this stamp into our new stamping challenge. Cardstock Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, and Perfect Plum. Card was made using Trellis Window technique from the new CD the Technique Junkies put out. CD is called Emboss or Die. Lots of great techniques to get more out of embossing folders and dies. And see those little pearls in the center of the paper flowers? I used a new tool I picked up months ago. Tool is called i-rock made by imaginisce. Really cool tool to use. The gems have adhesive on the back of them. You put the gem glue side down then use the battery operated tool on top of the gem. This will melt the adhesive and the gem will stick to the project. Totally COOL TOOL!!!! Want to check it out visit there website here

Wanted to show you the inside of the card. I know the Chapel looks like its crooked, but it doesn't look that way when you are looking at it through the window.

Kids are on Spring break this week so hubby is working day shift. He is so complaining about it. He prefers to be on second shift. Poor thing is not a morning person. Wonder how he ever made it during all those years in the service.

Still really cold here. We have been having lots of sunshine but the temps have been in the low 30's during the day and going into the 20's at night. BRRRRRRR

For Connie....Cold is Really Getting to Me

So my friend Connie advised me I needed to update my blog.....What would I do without my friends to remind me of these things? Thanks Connie!

Been sick with a cold all week. Note to my friends....please don't try to call me for a few days. I'm so congested that it is hard to speak and breathe at the same time.

I snapped this picture of my crocuses last week when the temps were in the 60's. Well guess what.....not in the 60's anymore. Temps went down into the high 20's last night, and we got a dusting of snow....Doesn't the calendar know that Spring officially started on Sunday? I packed up my heavy winter coat. Hubby is laughing at me now as he says I'll still need it. My stance on the subject.....I'm thinking positive. Winter is over Spring is here...end of story.

I finished up on a larger crochet project. Sorry can't post pictures of the project. Its a gift for a special someone, and you just never know when that someone will be viewing the blog.

Kat I got the package in the mail today. Thanks for sending back my stamp set. Hope you enjoyed using it. Lisa thanks for the flower card. LOVE IT!!! Thanks also for the St. Paddy's day gift.

Red Hat Snow Lady

So we got about 3 inches of snow last Friday. It was heavy wet snow. Perfect for making snowmen. I got a little carried away and made a snow lady.....had to put my red cowboy hat on her and purple scarf. Since it was a girl snowman she had to have breasts. LOL I know I'm bad.

Did have fun with making her. Sadly she started to melt later that day. It got up into the 40's.

Yesterday was St. Paddy's Day, but I had Spring Cleaning fever and I got at it. Did the floor and walls of the kitchen and also cleaned the inside and outside of the fridge. Plus I got to go for a walk outside as the temps got into the 60's. When Skip came home from work we took the bikes out for a ride around the neighborhood. WOW....it was so nice to feel the sun on my face and wind in my hair again.

More cleaning today. Just love this time of year when it starts to warm up a bit. Been a long cold winter.

Clover Card

Happy Monday to all my stamping buddies! I'm feeling good this morning. Been busy working out all week. Trying to bump up my workouts. I did take time to stamp yesterday evening. Made this St. Paddy's day card for my mom-in-law Kate. She's a good Irish lassie. Think she'll like it. Not sure where all the stamps came from. The background stamped on the Asparagus designer paper is from SU! Bliss set. I used Espresso, Wild Wasabi, and Garden Green cardstock. Also used Spellbinders small scallop circle die.

We had some snow over the weekend. Looking forward to the time changing this coming Saturday. I need some more sun so kicking the time forward an hour will help. Now they are saying we could have a thunder storm in the middle of the week. Goes from one extreme to the other. Been a strange winter.

We went and saw a movie over the weekend. I wanted to see Pongo with the voice of Johnny Depp. Oh my gosh it was a funny movie. Very good animation. Skip enjoyed it too.

Well gotta go get some breakfast. My tummy is rumbling.

Nifty Fifty

While me and mom-in-law Kate where shopping yesterday at JoAnn's I bought a new Cricut cartridge. They were on sale for 39.99, and I still had gift cards from Christmas so it was free to me! YAY. I think this will make some really cool scrapbook pages of my parents and Skip parents. Kate use to roller skate a lot. That is how she met Skip's dad. She made her own skating costumes...and see the die cut skates on the box? Yep this will make an awesome gift for her this Christmas. Going to make a book with her old skating photos.

Kat got your card yesterday. Thanks! And I hope warmer weather is on the way for us. I think they are predicting 40'ish temps for the weekend. Tropical heat wave for us!

Made some really good sweet potato fries for dinner. So easy to do. Take two sweet taters that have been scrubbed very good...cut in half then quarter and cut into fry shape pieces. Put teaspoon olive oil in large zip lock bag add the fries and work the oil into them. Place on sprayed cookie sheet sprinkle with pepper and salt (I leave the salt out) bake in preheated oven set at 425 for 20 minutes. Turn halfway through. YUM!!! Skip asked for the ketchup to put on them and I wouldn't give it to him. I told him try it first before you add anything to it. Good Grief. Turns out he like them.

Did a 4 mile workout yesterday. Go me!!!

Not Much Going On

Still cold here. What crazy weather. Had a snow storm on Friday, then the other day we had a major thunder storm which started to melt the snow, which cause flooding in lots of areas. Thankfully we are okay here, but Skip's cousin who lives in North Ridgeville was flooded pretty bad. Lots of homes had standing water in them. On the upside its March 1st so each day is getting closer to Spring. I feel like a caged animal. Really would rather be outside to workout in warmer weather, but I'm still stuck in the house with workout videos.

Didn't do a lot yesterday. Sarah came over and we visited for a bit. Her and John went out bumming around. I spend the rest of the day cleaning out drawers. Didn't get to any stamping. So dismal out that I didn't want to be in the stamping studio. To cold down there. I did work on some more crochet projects. So I feel I accomplished something.

Going to be leaving here in a bit. Going to drive to my mom-in-law Kate's house. We are going to do a bit of shopping, then just visit.
