Papaya Collage Birthday

Happy last day of January!

I can't believe how quickly the month went by. Not that I'm complaining mind you.

It was a very cold month. The schools only have 5 calamity days and they have used 6 days this month.

I'm sure they are going to have to make up the extra day, and if they have to take off more of them this winter they will have to make those up as well.

What is surprising that the days taken were only due to extreme cold and not due to snow.

I'm hoping February will be warmer!!!! But they are calling now for a snow front that is coming through this weekend. Ah the joys of winter.

Today's card was made with a scrap that I had stamped Post Card background stamp with Smokey Slate on Smokey Slate cardstock. I didn't use it because I wasn't too careful when inking the stamp and got some ink in the center of the rubber where it wasn't suppose to go. Since I'm pretty good at conserving cardstock I threw the piece into my scrap bin.

Other stamps used Papaya Collage, and Itty Bitty Banners.

Color Palette: Midnight Muse, Crushed Curry, Smokey Slate, and Vanilla.

I put a layer of vanilla on the inside card and stamped the leaf sprig with Smokey Slate.

Candy Wrapers

Just a very quick post today. Way to cold for me to be in the crafting studio!!!

I made these little candy holders using the envelope punch board and the

new Fresh Prints designer series paper pack.

The designer paper is 4 1/2 x 6

The long edge is scored at 1 1/2, 3, 4 1/2, and 6 inches.

The short edge is scored at 1, and 3 1/2 inches.

The rest is pretty much done the same way as the Christmas crackers that were going around at the end

of this past year.

Stamp set Tags 4 You. The stamp was inked with Real Red and stamped on Coastal Cabana.

Scraps and Flowers

I needed to make some "non" greeting cards.

Words can be added later to fit the occasion that I need.

I also used some scraps on this card.

Color Palette: white, Soft Suede, Rose Red, Temping Turquoise, Old Olive.

The Suede layer was embossed with a Tim Holtz folder I believe. Been in my scrap bin so long that I have
forgot!

The stamp set used is Flower Shop with the matching punch (thanks Kat! It was a Christmas gift from her)

The leaves had also been in the scrap bin just waiting to be used.

Flower in the center was the only one mounted with pop dots. I wanted the leaves to wrap

around the flowers.

Skip has another day off due to the Polar Blast. Temps - 9 last night.

My car wouldn't even start yesterday. Skip had to venture out to pick up some cold meds. Yep he's got

a cold. First one he has had in years. I told him to please keep his wee germs away from me!

I haven't been doing to much...just trying to keep warm. I did make a yellow cake yesterday afternoon with a box mix. The directions said to add 1/2 vegetable oil, but I used olive oil instead. Tasted pretty
darn good. Of course I used chocolate icing so it had to be good!

I've also been reading a book. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I've read the book at least 5 times since it came out years ago. Its been just like curling up with an old friend.

Gemometrical and Triangle Punch

Since I still had the Geometrical stamp set on my desk I used it to make this card.

The set does has a matching triangle punch that I used to pop two of the triangle banners.

Color Palette: Bermuda Bay, Smokey Slate, and Melon Mambo

Skip has the day off work as the temps are way to cold to have the kids waiting for the school bus.

Went down to 8 last night and we are going to top the mercury chart with a whopping high temp of

4 degrees. BRRRRRR.

Time once again to stay indoors. I'm thinking I'll throw something in the oven and bake. Maybe that will help me to feel warmer.

Mailable Monday #46

Happy Monday!

Its cold and snowy here. I mean its really, really cold! Temps in the single digits. BRRRR!!!!

Just a one layer card today. I didn't want to stay in the stamping studio to longer yesterday so I thought I better make it quick before I got to cold.

White base card was stamped with Banner Blast (new SAB set)

Color Palette: Wisteria Wonder, Basic Black, Wild Wasabi, and Smokey Slate

Greeting and arrow across the bottom is from Geometrical which is another new set from the Occasions mini catalog.

The line that the banners are hanging on was made using a black marker.

Punched Clouds

Well skies have been gray here. We got 3 inches of snow the other night, and it snowed a lot on Saturday.

I used a new Sale-A-Bration set for this card called See Ya Later.

Base card is Island Indigo, layer of designer paper Watercolor Wonder, next layer is Smokey Slate.

I used 3/4, and 1/2 circle punches to punch out the two clouds. These were also backed with Watercolor Wonder designer paper.

Used Apothecary Accents on Smokey Slate for the greeting.

I plan to stay in today as I've been in for the past few days. Way to cold to venture outside. I'd much rather stay indoors curled up with a good book and a hot cup of tea!

Minion Valentine

I just found out that one of my friends loves the Minions from Despicable Me.

I made this Valentine card for her.

Punches used: circle, 1/2, 3/4, 1, and 1 1/4 inch
word window, large heart punch

Greeting from Follow My Heart

Its been so cold here. We got hit with another Polar Blast. Skip had yesterday off as the schools were closed, and it looks like he might get another day off next week as the temps are going to be even colder.

Precious Baby Cards

When I saw these cute baby cards I just had to CASE them.

Who knows when I will ever need a baby card, but sometimes you just have to make things because the project is just too cute not to!

It doesn't show in the photo very well but the layer that the tag is mounted on is white linen cardstock that I got at Hallo's earlier this week......and speaking of Hallo's.....I almost choked when I saw they raised the cardstock price from 1.25 a pound to 1.50 a pound. I was still trying to recover from last years increase from 1.00 to 1.25!!!!! Okay I know prices go up and I'm trying to tell myself that 1.50 a pound is still way less than other places you can buy cardstock.

The card uses Storybook Friends, and That's the Ticket stamp sets.

Colors Marina Mist, and Blushing Bride.

The tag was made using the new scallop tag punch.

Hope everyone is staying warm......its cold here but at least January is almost over.

Best of Sale-A-Bration Meets Watercolor

Just a quick and clean card today.

This was made using Best of Sale-A-Bration stamp set and Happy Watercolor.

Color Palette: white, Wild Wasabi, More Mustard, Perfect Plum, and Concord Crush.

No bling just two silver brads on the round flower images.

Not much else going on here. Still trying to just keep warm. January seems so long after festive December comes and goes. Is it Spring yet?

Butterfly and Roses Box

Happy Wednesday!

I've been playing around with the new spiral flower die that is in the Occasions mini catalog.

I had this metal covered paper mache box that I decided to decorate. The white lace butterfly was sponged around the edges using Crumb Cake ink.

For the roses I cut some in cream and white. These were layered together before rolling up into the roses. I also sponged these with Crumb Cake. I though it made it look more vintage to sponge the roses.

I added some strings of pearls and the leaves are from Joyful Christmas. Of course I had to add more butterflies. Bliss greeting is from the Best of Sale-A-Bration stamp set.

Here is how the box looks sitting on its side. The round embellishment in the center is the last of
the artisan kit. I felt the middle of that large lace butterfly was missing something so I'm glad I was able to find something that worked.

I was thinking this would make a great wedding gift, but since I don't have any weddings coming up I think I'll hang onto it. It looks good sitting on my desk so I'll just enjoy it for a bit before I pack it away.

New Decor for the Kitchen

I have a new addition in my kitchen thanks to my friend Marianne.

She gave me a gift card to Amazon for Christmas, so I got these awesome glass cheese board to go with my

grape decor.

It also came with this cute little cheese knife that has grapes on the handle.

Thanks again Marianne!

Mailable Monday # 45

Happy Mailable Monday!

This is a quick and easy guy card made with new stuff from the Occasions mini.

Designer paper High Tide has two sheets of these cool tall ships in a bottle.

Matching stamp set is called Hello Sailor. There is also matching wide white striped Pacific Point ribbon, but seeing how this is mailable Monday I decided not to use the ribbon on this card.

Strips are cut 3/4 of an inch wide and "v" notches were cut using square punch.

Well now that I got my "feet" wet with this stamp set, and paper I can't wait to dive right in and make layers,  dimensions with pop dots, and use that ribbon!

The Last of Artisan Embellishment Kit

Well I finished up the Artisan embellishments. I'm so happy to use them up and
clean them off the desk.

Base card Crumb Cake. Jumbo wheel Shop Around across the bottom of the card.
I rolled it again on white with Real Red ink. I wanted to pop the lady on the image.

Scallop heart is from last years Valentine designer paper. Flower in the center of the lace was made with air clay and flower mold.

Last card is again based on Crumb Cake.

I love love love the natural chevron ribbon in the new mini catalog.
I used Gorgeous Grunge on the bottom part of the card and greeting is from Perfectly Penned stamp set.

So now that I'm finished with the kit its time to move on to other things. I want to start thinking of Easter seeing how I can't wait for Spring, but did you see that Easter comes very late this year on April 20th.
At least it should be warm by that time for the little girls to wear those cute Easter dresses.

I have other projects that I need to get finished as well. I have anniversary cards, and birthday cards to make for the year, and its also time for me to start thinking about making birthday gifts. Ah the joys of crafting never ends! Good thing for me!

Artisan Embellishment Kit put to Use!

So I was cleaning up my desk the other day and found a bunch of embellishments from last
years Artisans kit. I'm thinking to myself why oh why do I buy this stuff if I just plan to hoard it and never use it? Good question right? So I decided I'm going to make Valentines cards and use this great stuff!

Here is card one.
Base card Crumb Cake
Hearts were punched with Cherry Cobbler, and Pool Party. Both hearts
were embossed using different embossing folders. Greeting from Follow My Heart inked with white
pigment ink.

Card two base card vanilla, layer is also vanilla embossed with a folder then inked with Crumb Cake.
Love tickets were also from the artisan kit. I added a paper doily that was also inked with Crumb Cake.

Card three. Base card vanilla with vanilla layer that was also embossed.
Heart topped die cut was embossed before grouping the flowers on it. I first wrapped the flowers with lace ribbon then tied a bow around the top. Since it was a little heavy for glue dots I used the hot glue tool to adhere it in place.

Card 4. Base card is white. Layer Blushing Bride that was embossed with Arrows folder.
Die cut heart was rolled with large Shop Around wheel using Real Red ink.

I added some small red hearts to the top of the die. I used some rhinestones in the center of them.
I thought since the woman in the image was saying ooh la la! the tower from Follow My Heart set would be perfectly paired with the Shop Around wheel. Narrow layer is Chocolate Chip. I added a little banner to the top corner that is also from the Follow My Heart set.

So I hope you enjoyed seeing my Valentine cards today.

I still have just a few pieces left from the artisan embellishment kit that I plan to finish using up today.

So my new...New Year's Resolution.....stop the HOARDING OF EMBELLISHMENTS!!!!!

Ornaments from Friends

Thought I'd share two ornaments with you today that my friends made for me this past Christmas.

Kathy painted a light bulb orange to make the Orange M&M guy.

Super cute! I don't know why but the Orange M is my favorite!

And speaking of orange.....Connie used a orange Sharpie marker to color the nose on this tealight

candle. The battery operated tea light is turned on for this photo. The body

is made using fun foam. Just love it!

Thanks gals for making me some great new ornaments!

Shabby Chic Valentine and Ouch!

I'm all about Shabby Chic and this is just that.

Base card Blushing Bride, layer Smokey Slate

Ink colors: Smokey Slate, and Rose Red

Stamp sets Follow my Heart, Postage Due, Off the Grid,  and Banner blast.

I got my cortisone shot yesterday afternoon in my left knee. My doctor has always been good with giving me shots, with little or no pain. This time was different. When it started to hurt he said he was sorry as he brushed the bone. I felt all of the injection fluid going in. OUCH! I bled more at the site than I normally do and I'm pretty sure that its going to be even more black and blue than the photo shows now.
The doctor also ordered x-rays since I had not had them since April of 2012.
It isn't looking good. I'm going to have to have both knees replaced. He said there is no hurry as long as the gel shots are working. I'm not even going to consider having it done till I lose the rest of the weight I want to lose. So now I'm just trying to let the news sink in. I have to tell you that I'm very depressed about the entire thing.

Washi Tape Covered Pencils

Fun washi tape pencils! How cute and quick to make.

I put one end of the washi tape roll up close to the metal rim of the pencil.

Then I unrolled the tape down the length of the pencil and cut off at the bottom.

The washi tape isn't wide enough to cover the whole pencil so I repeated the process on the other side of the pencil. Once the tape is down just use your fingers to press the tape down on the pencil.

I'll be off to the doctor's office this afternoon. I need to have a cortisone shot in my left knee. I've been trying to put it off as long as I can, but with the cold weather my knee has not been a happy camper!

Designer Paper Heart Wreaths

Back with more Valentine stuff.

I used last seasons designer paper to make this paper heart wreath.

Strips are cut 1 1/2 wide by 6 inches long. You will need twelve of these.

Score each strip at 3 inches. This will make the nice point at the bottom of each heart.

Next bring the ends up and use clear tape on the front and back of each to hold the heart shape.

Once all the hearts are made put them in a circle keeping in mind to alter the paper designs.

Assemble the wreath with more clear tape. If you look at the photo you should be able to see where I placed the tape. You will need to tape each together on the front and back.

I just used a piece of crochet thread to make the hanger. Large heart punch was run through embossing folder and I used a Rose Red banner from the new SAB set Banner Blast.

I also made a smaller wreath. This was made the exact same way except the strips are

1 inch by 5 inches, and score line for the point of the heart is 2 1/2 inches.

Mailable Monday #44

Since Valentine's Day is coming up I was looking through what other current SU stamps I
had to make some cards.

Tag It has this cute little trowel in the set that also has the greeting I dig you.

Way to cute! So for this Mailable Monday I made a flower pot using Chocolate Chip to use on the card.

I made the top of the pot using the scallop border punch The pot itself is about 1 1/2 wide by 2 inches tall.

Leaves are Old Olive and Bird Builder punch.

Little read hearts are Real Red and Owl Builder punch.

The little trowel does have a heart on the upper corner build into the stamp but I added a
red heart punch over it.

To finish it off I just added some squiggles and dots using the fine point of my Chocolate Chip marker.

Now what else can I find to make Valentines with?

Card Holder or Embossing Folder Holder

This was made to be a card and envelope holder, but I decided it would work well as
an embossing folder holder.

I really think pops of color at this time of the year. Since its cold and snowy out I'm thinking of Spring!

The holder is made with one sheet of 8 1/4 x 11 Smoky Slate card stock.

Designer paper is new in the Occasions mini Watercolor Wonder.

The ribbon I used was from last year's Sycamore Street ribbon and button pack.

Here is a side view shot. I didn't notice when I took the photo that the top ribbon was not even. I'll
have to go back and tidy that up a bit.

I'm thinking I'll make a few more of these to hold some cards. Would make a great way to gift cards.
We were blessed with some warmer temps yesterday. It got up to 49 and we had just a bit of rain.
So me and hubby went out for dinner and to got some shopping done. Nice to get out of the house!

Top Note Treat Holder

Here is the 3d project that matches the card I posted yesterday.

Inside view of the treat holder.

I cut one Top Note die using Real Red.

This was scored at 2" and 2 1/2 inches.

Belly band cut with white cardstock. Its 1 1/4 x 8 1/2

Band is then scored at 1 7/8, 2 1/2, 6, and 6 5/8

I added the washi tape to the center of the belly band after it was scored.
I fussy cut the tower and added the Real Red heart punch.

Speaking of punches....the little key banner that comes in Follow My Heart set does have a matching punch for the banner. It will be in the SAB catalog.
Greeting inside the treat holder was punched using the extra wide oval punch.

Hope you enjoyed today's project.

Follow My Heart

Hi again! I found a work around to post images thanks to other users of blogger.

Time to put Christmas behind me and think about Valentines!

This was made using the new set Follow My Heart. So pretty, and I love the Eiffel Tower!

Base card white. On a smaller layer of white I used washi tape (new from Occasions mini)

One the Blushing Bride layer I stamped the tower with Real Red ink and added a Real Red heart punch.

Greeting was stamped then punched with 2 1/2 circle punch.

So quick and cute!

Check back tomorrow as I'll have a 3d project using the same set and colors.

Still Not Working

Well the add image part of blogger is still not working for me. I remember this happened last year. Hoping it will be fixed soon.

I did go out yesterday to run some errands but I didn't get far. The check engine light on my car came on.
While driving the engine tried to die on me twice, so I had to get it home.

Skip will have to check on it this weekend.

We got more snow last night. Skip was actually worried that he may get another snow day. He doesn't want one as if they get to many the days will have to be made up on the holidays, and into the summer.

Kat I got the box today. Thanks for the tea! The gingerbread M&M's are not bad. Skip didn't like them, so I can't pass them on to him. I'll just keep them in one of my glass dome covered stands at my crafting table.

In this cold a girl needs her chocolate to keep her crafting energy up:)

Trouble with Blogspot

Just wanted to let my readers know that I am not able to post photos on my posts at this time. Blogspot is having issues (or I am) who knows at this time.

But I did want to let you know we lived through the cold front we had. Skip had a few days off work as the schools were closed. Temps got down to 13 below at night. Very cold, and I'm sure there were some records broken.

Kids went back to school yesterday as it was a very warm (LOL) 19 degrees out.

I'm looking forward to the weekend as it is suppose to reach the mid 40's. Hmmmm......maybe we can have a picnic this weekend. Only kidding...still to cold for that!

Prim Roses

Since I've been complaining about the cold and wishing for Spring to hurry up and get here........

dear hubby went out and bought me some prim roses.

So bright and colorful! They really make the kitchen table pop with some color.

They are pretty root bound so I think I'll be laying down some newspaper on the kitchen floor so I can re-pot them. No way will I be braving the cold to do it out in the garage!

I had this beautiful castles of Scotland calendar for 2013.

I didn't want to waste the photos so I used the

How cool it that? Great way to recycle those old calendars!

Mailable Monday #43

Welcome to the first Mailable Monday of the New Year!

Stamp set Happy Watercolor. This is a new set and is available now from the Occasions Mini.

I wanted to break out of my "comfort colors" so I selected colors I haven't used in a very long time, and certainly I have not used them together.

Color Palette: Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, and vanilla.

I decorated the inside card as well.

Outside card has just a bit of paper piercing around the edge of the vanilla layer.

You may notice that I snapped the picture while the card was on the laptop.

If you look on the screen you will see a color lab website. This site is awesome for trying out some new color combinations. It also includes SU In Line Colors, as well as retired colors. Check it out here

Favorite Nook

Just wanted to share with you a little nook in our living room.

Classical guitar I've had since forever! My brother Tony gave it me.

The plant was sent to me almost three years ago from my mom's nursing home. They

sent it to me when she passed away.

The lantern was a Christmas gift this year from my friend Lisa. She had used lanterns for decorations at her daughter's wedding this past October.

This space is where I had the Barbie tree. When I took it down I just missed having the greenery so put these favorite things together to help perk me up.

I'm going to need it as the weather is just awful! Really cold. They are saying it is suppose to be -2 by Tuesday. Say it with me BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I really need to talk hubby into moving to TX.

Poor Little Car Covered in Snow

Well it must be January because we got hit with a snow storm.

Snowed Wednesday night and continued all day Thursday.

Poor Skip and John had to run the snowblower twice and most likely will need to do it again.

It was still snowing Thursday evening when they went out to plow.

Sarah said they had even more snow in her area as she is in the snow belt.

We are getting some winds as well which is making the snow drift.

I didn't do much of anything yesterday. Cleaned up the kitchen and made dinner. That was about it.

I have no motivation when the weather gets like this. Way to cold.

Hoping I get more done tomorrow!

Forever Friend Card

I wanted to play with some new stamping toys that I received for Christmas.
While going though the stamp sets I had put away I discovered that I had Notable Notions set that I got with an order back in July (2013). It had not been used or even put together. Shame on me!

So before moving on to really new sets I decided to make this card from a "new" old set.

Base card Baked Brown Sugar
Layer Coastal Cabana
White layer embossed with script folder

Other colors used Crisp Cantaloupe, and Soft Suede
I wrapped the bottom of the tag with white crochet thread.

Well we got snow on New Years. Skip and John had to go out to clean out the driveway.
There is more on the way. Suppose to get up to 6 inches, and right now we have about 3. Oh and get this.....come Tuesday they are predicting temps to only be 6 degrees! I think I'll be staying the house. Thank goodness I have lots of projects and stamps to keep me busy!!!!

Happy New Year, and Long Tall Snowman

I know its New Year's Day but I still have some Christmas left in me.

How about this tall skinny Snowman? Who says snowmen have to be round? This one is on a diet just like me. I started back on the wagon in full force today.

Back to the project.

He was made using the angled tag topper punch.
First I cut a white strip of cardstock 2x10.
Then I cut a shorter strip of black. Using a paper cutter I cut off the top part of the black strip at 7/8 of an inch. This was glued down to the white tag matching up the hole in the top.
Next I put down a strip of washi tape for the hatband.
The brim was made with another piece of black cardstock. I cut the strip a little bit thinner so I could used the word window punch to make the strip long enough to form the brim.

Eyes made with 3/8 circle punch, nose ornament punch from the punch pack.
Mouth hand drawn. Stars for the buttons also made using start from punch pack with Daffodil Delight cardstock.
Scarf is more washi tape. I ran it around the front and back of the white cardstock and fringed the edges after the ends were stuck together.
Bottom pieces are torn white cardstock that had the edges inked with VersaMark then heat embossed with Iridescent Ice powder. Greeting from More Marry Messages.
May you all have a happy and blessed New Year!
